I think WIC is a wonderful thing. When my husband was laid off we had to live off of savings. We were able to save hundreds and hundreds of dollars on forumla (after I stopped breastfeeding), cheese, milk, cereal and things like that.

WIC is very helpful to families who are struggling. It's really amazing how much you spend just on cheese, juices, and cereal without even adding in the ton you spend on formula.

I agree, I think WIC is wonderful for people that need it. One of my good friends was on WIC when she first had her baby. Once she went back to work she went off. It was great.

I knew a woman who really needed it. She wouldn't go on it because she thought people would treat her badly for being poor. She would literally skip meals so that every one else could eat and not know that money was tight for food. She lost like 20lbs just because she was worried about what people think. I think Wic is wonderful myself.

I think WIC is great for people who are having financial problems, but I think it is terrible when people who can afford to buy the items cause taxpayers to pay their way.

I know, I think it is people who take advantage of the system that hurt those who really need it. They are the ones who give it a bad name and those who really need WIC are afraid to get it because of what others might think. It is a shame.

They are usually quite diligent about checking income guidelines when it comes to WIC. I know when I had the twins I couldn't breast feed for health reasons and we were struggling as well, it definitely helped us out.
