Monday is when my girls start back to school and for as long as I can remember my youngest just doesn't like to eat breakfast until mid morning. By lunchtime she is starving. I put food in front of her but she just won't eat. Any suggestions?

What if you let her choose, within reason, what to have for breakfast? If you've already tried that and she still won't eat before lunch, I don't know if there is much you can do about it. She'll either eventually figure it out and start eating breakfast or this could end up being a lifelong habit. Skipping breakfast isn't good, especially for kids, but you can't force feed her.

Do they have a snack time at 10:30ish? Maybe you can pack her something healthy for a snack time, and then lunch also. Would she drink something? Maybe you could try the liquid yogurt stuff or a smoothie.

I m also facing the same problem. My daughter is 5 1/2, weighs around 35 pounds, going into 1st grade. She gives me fits at every meal about not eating. Says she isn't hungry, Is it possible that she just doesn't want to eat or should I seek medical advice?

Kids won't starve if you offer them food. They are far better than we are at controlling themselves.

Another choice is to wait till the school run and offer her something either waiting for the bus or in the car. Like a breakfast bar of some kind.

Having a choose might be all that works in this case, I remember being the same way. I never liked the idea of a large breakfast but something quick and on the go I could deal with. I am barely awake in the morning as it is, and even at this age I could still use a bib until that caffeine kicks in.
